Polishing, Grinding & Finishing of Optics

ULC grinds, polishes, and finishes custom flat optics with consistent and unsurpassed accuracy. We feature 13 different processes, including beveling, mounting, blocking, edging, lapping, grinding, and pad and pitch polishing. Our processes are appropriate for silica, quartz, ceramic, glass, filters or customer-supplied material.

Operated by highly trained professionals, our cutting edge machinery allows us to provide the highest quality optical components in virtually any quantity, in sizes up to 18 inches in diameter, surface flatness to 1/20 wave P-V, parallelism to <1 arc second, and to MIL-PRF-13830B, MIL-I-45208, and ISO 10110 specifications. Our finishing results are as low as 3 Angstrom RMS, Robotic/Automatic edging and Beveling allow diamond edge finishes.

To ensure each product meets customer specifications, components are tested using state-of-the-art interferometers, polarimeters, autocollimators, and other optical gauging instruments.
